I got mine in Augusta, Georgia for $5. I had heard from someone that the VC and RVN didn't like satanism and if you got killed they wouldn't cut off your tattoo if it looked satirical. So I got a skull with a wreath around it that had "Death To My Enemies". It may have been the tattoo artist tat told me that. Now I know how silly that sounds, but I didn't get killed and I still have my $5 tattoo.

21 Years and Not a One, Started my Career in Hawaii too. Now my Son has more than made up for that Shortcoming.

I would never pay what they cost now. I see grown women with tats all over their arms, back, and chest. They had to pay a fortune for all of those.

$60 an hour for a skilled artist and craftsman doesn't seem unreasonable to me. What are they charging in your area?
