The VVA was the only organization that did not support this legislation, stating it will weaken insicidual protections as well as protections of those vets during their claims process. The law focuses on what it calls "three-lane options" for the claims appeal process. Does, as the VVA states, the law sacrifice individual protections and "...duty-to-assist obligations" in order to reduce the 500,000 plus backlog? In my opinion the three lane option, on the surface, adds two more levels of confusion to the VA claims system.

I will believe it when I see it.` I have just been diagnosed with Charcot joint disease. I am waiting to see if my Doctor tells me I have to retire and if I do is the VA going to up me to 100% disabled. It's going to be interesting. took me 30 years just to get a hearing Aid after playing with Jets on the Flight Deck for 8 years.

Another example of the fact that it is impossible to get consensus on anythnig. No plan that is developed will be 100% fool-proof or address 100% of the problems. What VVA is acknowledging but still arguing against is that the changes are an improvement and will facilitate speedier resolution to claims. It almost sounds like they are looking for perfect resolution of every claim so that the appeals process doesn't become a factor. Unrealistic expectations, IMHO.
