I am going to go out on a limb and take the bashing. I think he felt his pacifist ways would work. He had to try and I don't think the normal populace understands that section of the world hates everything we are about. Hearts and minds worked in WWII when we had some common ground with those we were fighting against...this conflict has nothing resembling that. In short I think he underestimated the situation and no recovery in sight.

Difference is Reagents would have had an opportunity order for in and out. This one we flew in several times over many years with only an insertion determination. No real goal or exit strategy.

Maj Marty Hogan - Oh I'm sure it will all work out. Sorry, a bit of sarcasm there. :)

SPC Kevin Ford - I don't find any sarcasm in it to be honest. They have told us just that since 91ish. Those of us living in it pick up the quirks and make them funny for us so we can tolerate the next phase or battle plan. Maybe one day we will be out completely and we will look back and find a better way for the next time. Maybe not....I lost my self for a moment there sorry.

Maj Marty Hogan - I'd also point out that pretty much none of our strategies in the region have worked out. Obama's strategy seems to have been one we've tried before, sprinkle some freedom juice around (something happens), profit. A bit of an underwear gnome approach but one in which he certainly wasn't alone in trying. But I also am not clear that any strategy we could have tried would have led to better results and that's the real pain of the region.

Goes to show what a presidential promise and the second third fourth and fifth order effects that could even destabilize Germany with all those millions of refugees and that could also destabilize Jordan who already has a bunch of Palestinian refugees already

And all those refugees worldwide were from pulling out of Iraq in 2010-11. The civil war in Syria could have been contained and Isis would have been some little Renegade Army.

LTC (Join to see) - and in your comment above which is correct, that is what they should have been, a little Renegade army but they were given weapons and a lot of freedom thereby becoming ISIS and killing a lot of people in the process, part of the Arab Spring, I am sure...

SGT Damaso V Santana - I understand now. the ISIS/ISIL JV team became the new Star Trek Borg and assimilated or killed millions of people and caused over 3 million people to flee for their lives into Turkey, Jordan and Western Europe.

SGT Damaso V Santana - I just corrected it. I was using my samsung smart phone with voice recognition. If I don't check it before I hit send, it makes no sense. I just fixed it. I meant ISIL/ISIS not, what you talking about, willis LOL?
