I heard this earlier and recalled that Bush did not "care" about the black population. So is the same true this time? Bush was not on vacation but rather stayed out of the way to allow the civil authority and the Guard to establish security. Strange how politics and the words we speak can come back to bite you.

SFC William Farrell - I try to stay out of the controversy but sometimes it is just humorous. I do feel he leans to the Muslim angle and the press does not highlight it. If he was Christian and leaned that way they would devour him over separation of church and state. We live in weird and too PC times.

LTC (Join to see) - Current POTUS scenery has been a lot of 18 holes, just saying. Media gave W a lot of Sh*t for playing golf, never played again during his presidency. Just saying.

MSgt C Madd - look up how many days Bush spent on vacation and compare that to Obama. there is no doubt who the harder working president is. But the real point is, that no matter where the POTUS is, he is always in constant communication with his staff, always updated on world and domestic events, and always able to do anything that he could do from DC.
and by the way, why no outcry to get the republican led House and Senate back in from vacation for an emergency session to authorize aid for LA? Uh huh.
Besides, if Obama went to LA, the repubs would accuse him of using the tragedy as a photo op, just like they did when he went to OR to meet with the families of the shooting victims.
And finally, both the Gov and LT Gov reemphasized today that the last thing they need right now is to divert resources to a presidential visit. As the LT Gov said, "we have every available person out searching houses for bodies".
