Who doesn't hate the capital beltway? I avoid DC like the plague. It's gotten worse since they finished the "only rich people need apply" lanes around 95 and such. I used to pray that the traffic wasn't backed up south of Quantico when I lived south of DC. The only place I've been with worse drivers is NYC. At least with the DC area I can bypass if I'm just heading on by by taking 301 or something.

It can be, but it still takes less time to get over the bridge than anywhere in DC. I'll take a 3 hour trip from Dalghren to Annapolis over 4+ sitting on 95, 695, etc.

As somebody who has been assigned in the Washington, D.C. area from 1989 to 2008 i recognize that many drivers are challenged here CW5 Jack Cardwell I have been hit about 15 times [26 total in my life while I was driving] since I was PCSed to this are - usually from the rear and once from the side as I was leaving the Pentagon :-)
We had many foreign drivers associated with all the foreign embassies and over the past decade the number of illegal aliens driving has increased.
Cell phone use is still an issue up here and road rage plays a role as well.
When leaving the area I prefer I-81 and US 14 and avoid I-95 and the capital beltway [I-495] and I-66 as much as possible.
I take the Fairfax County Connector when I drive my darling wife to Fort Belvoir.
Here people adjust driving time based on traffic patterns.
Safe driving everybody :-)

Since I am the son of resident aliens MAJ (Join to see) and a student of history I tend to be very careful about my word choice. Sometimes lack of sleep affects me.
Here in northern Virginia there are many illegal aliens who by definition are not licensed or insured and yet they know how to drive and do.

Pretty funny. I've been TDY to the DC area many times including three 30 day White House rotations and 8 months of EOD School at Indian Head NOS. I hate 95, the Beltway, and all of the idiots that call it home. He had a very valid point.
RIP Colonel.

I live in Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas. Something to do always, but no rush hour.
