Officials say US Army armored brigades need a stronger network

For over three decades we have repeatedly bought all sorts of Wonderful New Technologies that vendors have "demonstrated" with cute animations as their sales pitch to senior leaders who have a thorough grasp of military doctrine but have never heard the word "bandwidth" in their lives.

Most of those technologies would have wonderful potential if they actually worked, but many are simply impossible to scale up to the numbers the military needs. Many are direct lifts from classic science fiction (such as remote monitoring of the location and vital signs of each soldier - which someone tries to sell us ever few years).
