One the one hand we will always have unhinged people, on the other we can and did create an environment where these people are more likely to act.

It wasn’t too long ago where we held our political leaders to a higher standard of discourse to lead the way to our better natures. Unfortunately that has changed where winning is the only thing that is important and now we have political leadership saying not only that they disagree with the other side, but that those people are evil and should be the target of disdain.

We no longer seem to punish political leadership for going down that path, we reward them for it. This outcome isn’t too surprising. We need to chose a different path and a different way of interacting with each other.

E pluribus unum.

Personally, I feel there is a massive difference between freedom of speech and the hate this guy was yelling. He turned the city on its head yesterday. Yesterday was not the best day for Pittsburgh but we will stand united against such hate.

While there are no shortage of people that are "not right" one has to look at what some of the contributing factors are. Look at the media and all the crap that is spewed out on a daily basis.

SSG Steven Mangus - I cannot for the life of me see any other "contributing factors" about this shooting than racial hatred, plain and simple.
