I was raised in a racist household my dad was racist but he mellowed with age but he taught me that you shouldn't be prejudice against against people for their color but for their actions ( I know that sounds strange). Now I am against racism in all forms and it is very offensive to me even though I am a white redneck from Texas when people inject racism into conversations about gun ownership I have alot of black friends who own guns and I would trust them with my life if the situation called for it. I always admired Dr.king and his fellow civil rights activists for their restraint when it came to owning guns here they were with the whole country against them and it was very rare for them to use them unprovoked ( their were exceptions to that though black panthers springs to mind). This gentleman even though he is anti gun seems to realize now why people own guns. That's all I got for now

SPC Gary Welch I identify with you in a very close proximity because the time period that we receive our experience does sound strange as we apply the life we journey through that introduces other experiences.

We should all note the alacrity with which the NYT will close commentary on articles, when it seems the public views expressed conflict with the editorial stance.

From article: "I am still suspicious of the N.R.A., and I would not abide having a gun inside my dwelling or my children’s schools"

Author does believe in gun rights, but has legitimate concerns about current societal bias against legal owners who are ethnic minorities
