FDR was bad for the country?

No FDR wasn't bad but he didn't push for socialism he wanted to push classical liberalism with social programs needed during the time. I however believe the programs he helped create that are still intact today are being used an abused by people who don't need it.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - FDR was good for domestics like a lot of Democrats of the past but horrible when it came to foreign relations. FDR came to power almost the exact time as Hitler and could have been proactive to stop WWII. If memory serves correctly, I think they both took office March 1933 and the world just allowed Hitler to move towards conflict.

MAJ Byron Oyler That's a bit of a generalization. This country was extremely isolationist when FDR came to power and he had to tread lightly. He did a lot to counter Hitler behind the scenes, Lend Lease for example, but the political climate here really kept him from being proactive. Frankly if the Japanese hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor our political environment would have kept us out of the war in Europe IMO.
