The Law of the Sea Treaty is bad for the USA. That is why we did not sign it. There are parts of the Treaty that match our maritime policy. It's been many years, but I don't understand what the "Grey Zone" is. During my time on high endurance cutters, we had to deal with the Soviet threat, including its satellite; Cuba. We were spied on, had our electronics jammed, trailed by submarines, followed by Bear bombers, encountered Sandinista mercenaries, smuggling, and illegal economics/political refugees. Think we did a good job. Don't understand what is more difficult today, than years ago.

PS. USCG has legal authority to patrol the world to enforce US laws and carry-out US policies.
