PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, we have crops like that too - they are unable to propagate in the wild. Like bananas - they are triploid and do not produce seeds but they provide edible fruit.
Our society has produced people like that too - that cannot survive without modern meds and modern medical interventions. I, for instance, would not last long without my meds and would not be able to function well without my implants.
