I will be honest and say I did not watch the video. A Pyrrhic Victory is a victory which is kind of like a defeat because of the heavy cost. I believe the Greeks or Macedonians or some army (I will call it X army) from that area defeated the Romans in a large battle but the battle depleted X army so much that they became combat ineffective.

The X army used phalanx tactics which is characterized by huge rectangular formations where all the soldiers have long pikes pointed forward. The tactic had worked for hundreds of years but the tactic had a flaw. All the combat power was pointed to the front with the long pikes. This left the flanks, creases, and the rear vulnerable.

The Roman Legions of about 4200 soldiers gave commanders flexibility to seize the initiative and the momentum. Due to the archaic tactic of the phalanx, in fighting between states, and the shrinking army, the Romans seized the mantel of power. Roman flexibility defeated the inflexibility of the phalanx.
