Cartoons in the 1960s such as Elmer Fudd versus Bugs Bunny and Donald Duck or Wile E Coyote versus Road Runner used firearms in the same way we played cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers, or war when we were young. In our imagination we role played and were victorious or defeated yet we got up afterwards to play again or play another day.
Many of us served in Vietnam during the 1960s and saw that weapons maim, wound and kill. Cartoons were replaced by videogames about 20 years ago as entertainment for youngsters and those young at heart.
There are still cartoons out there and to be honest I enjoy watching the simpler cartoons of the 1960s.
