BTW, this reminds me of the alternative history that has been popping up that the Nazi's were actaully a leftist organization because the called themselves national socialist and had some social programs.
Of course now that neo-Nazi groups start popping up, guess what side the self identify with? The same side they did in the 1930s. Not just in the US, but in every country they are popping up in again.
Reality is both the left and right have their wackos. Apparently some people can't handle the idea that they have extremists and try to define them away. Guess what snowflakes, every group has their extremists.

When I first came in (1991, as a medic), there was a nut in our AIT class who turned out to be some kind of neo-Nazi. Apparently, once asked about it by the drills he wasn't real shy about discussing his beliefs and that's that last we saw of him. From the little I interacted with him, he didn't seem angry or anything, just operating on some __very__ mistaken information about the world around him.
