Many indigenous Americans believed desecration of their enemies meant those enemies could not get into the hereafter.
Native Americans usually believe that you enter the afterlife with whatever body you had as you died, so they mutilated the bodies of other warriors to keep those warriors from coming after them and being able to fight in the afterlife.

Actually Muslims and Jews do take the desecration of the deceased seriously.
"Certain religions have objections to autopsy (eg, Islam, Judaism) in that bodily intrusion violates the sanctity of keeping the human body complete, despite those religious doctrines not strictly forbidding it. Instead, it is a matter of interpretation of these doctrines that have changed over time. [4] For example, the Prophet Muhammad stated that "to break the bone of a dead person is like breaking the bone of a living person," (Sunan of Abu Dawood) which has been extensively interpreted in the fields of autopsy and organ transplantation from the very literal (eg, the decedent being able to still feel pain) to the more figurative."
"Christian Scientists do not outright object to autopsies, but they are not advocated. Buddhism, various Christian sects (eg, Anglican, Church of England, Church of Wales, Episcopal, Church of Scotland, Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist), the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Free Church (Salvation Army, Quakers), and Jehovah Witness doctrines do not state an intrinsic objection to autopsies. [5] Hindus believe all organs must be returned to the body. Those who practice Sikhism believe that a funeral must not be delayed. Shinto, Taoism, and Confucianism do not prohibit autopsies. Not surprisingly, views about autopsies often parallel views about organ and tissue donation."

Different religions and views on cremation...so I guess you didn't realize that many religions actually do have views on holding deceased bodies in high esteem.
It's telling though how people tend to ignore the damage Israel has inflicted on the people of Palestine - who are not the ones attacking Israel at any point. From 2008-2020 casualties for both sides: Palestine: 5,590 deaths; Israel: 251 deaths. It's just so telling how many people ignore that Israel has been conducting a genocide against Palestinians for decades upon decades and taking more and more land from them.
Everyone can agree Hamas is in the wrong - but the ones paying for both Hamas and the Israeli government are the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

" (eg, the decedent being able to still feel pain)" HooDoo VooDoo. Once the lights go out it's a self contained meat sack. For the Christians it goes like this: "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands." 2 Corinthians 5:1 NLT
The book of Numbers, unless your a practicing Jew, should mean nothing to you. The Nazarene told His followers that He came to complete the Law, after him it was no longer valid. And, why would any other religion care what was in the 4th book of The Torah.

SGT (Join to see) - I'm not religious at all so none of it means anything to me. I was raised Catholic (unfortunately) but haven't practiced that in years. But you know there's like 4000 religions in the world. Not everyone is Christian...and there are different sects of Christianty mentioned that practice things differently than American Christians. Have a day.

I think SGT (Join to see) this latest larger-than-usual blowup between the ancient half-siblings is indicative of the End times upon us ; Israel will eventually be taken over by one greater than the Muslims. There’s events to be fulfilled, ie a Jewish Temple will be built and the Abomination of Desolation, the man of sin, will sit in it, defiling and ruling.
