When I was stationed at Hickam AFB, Hi in the 1972 era a large number of RAF Vulcan bombers came in and landed at the base. It seems the RAF was having an exercise in the area and the bombers were transiting through. The Vulcan bombers were pulling in on one section of the flight line ramp and parking in rows. It was apparent hey were military aircraft but up to then I'd never seen a Vulcan bomber. I was on Patrol with the Security Police and approached a RAF member to ask what type of aircraft that was which He did tell Me. We had a RAF Detachment stationed at Hickam AFB to handle transit RAF Aircraft. We had transit aircraft from UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada of a regular basis usually C130s.
