Not sure of dates.. I did not leave Zahko until late June early July 91. We were still pushing and pulling refugees out of the mountains.... we had arrived via incirlik and road trip to the crossing at Silopi right after the peace accords from the Gulf war. When we left there was a no fly zone an UN operations still going on if I recall correctly

These Poor Folks got Boned. We set a Goal of Liberating Kuwait, Once that was done we were out of there. The Kurds in the North and the Shia in the South thought we would be their Liberators in 91. Kind of Wonder if we had hung around, continued further, maybe implemented a Marshall Plan for the Area would we and they be better off today.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I left Dahran in a C5... after putting everything in quarantine at the port.. we went back and took it all the day before it was loaded on a ship... and put beans bullets vehicles etc.. on that C5... flew to incirlik... while at the same time our soldiers we let leave country were rounded back up and sent to incirlik and we all left there to Kurdistan to help... it was called operation provide comfort... 325 from Vincenza... was there. . Ships afloat and Marines were there.. 10th SFGA was there... blah blah... yes we eventually pulled out and a no fly zone was inadequate to protect the north or the south... hindsight is always 50/50... but who's to say it was just our job to do?
