I clicked this with the intention of casting derision on what I thought was another hater just for the sake of hating. In fact, reading the article and his position...he makes sense. I'm generally a DT supporter, and I do NOT think Putin has any sway over POTUS. I do, however, think that not enough is being done to curtail Russian and Chinese cyber attacks. We as a country need to recognize that a God's-honest-truth war can and will be fought in the cyber domain, and in this, Trump is not doing everything he can. But then, neither have any of his antecedents.

To answer your question, I give a retired SM the same amount of respect for their experience that I would an AD one. Leaving service doesn't negate all that time and experience. I sometimes feel that this works against me, because RP members see my E-3 and do the same...when in fact I have responsibilities and experience that go far beyond anything an E-3 would have.

While I can't speak for Putin having sway over Trump, there is no hard evidence yet (and maybe there never will be any) and I don't like to cast blame or any wrong doing before there is evidence, I do agree with the General's assessment of Trump. He's done next to nothing combating Russian interference, he's actually chastised the intelligence community for saying that Russia did, and with proof I might add, while telling the world he believes Putin. He's also done nothing, or next to nothing combating cyber attacks on our country. And he has had a "war of words" with a man in control of a country crazy and dumb enough to actually launch nukes at us, or at least an ally of ours. Trump talks a big game, but is slow to act and when he does it's soft, in other words...he speaks loudly and carries a little stick.

Pres. Trump has done vastly more to confront Russia's anti-American actions, than Pres. Obama. Strange how Gen McCaffrey didn't speak up then. The General worked for the Clinton White House. I also don't remember the General speaking up during Pres. Clinton's weakness against China, Russian and North Korea.

Trump is active protecting Putin, he still have not implicated the vacations Congress ordered and the sanction he did apply were band aids on a sucking chest wound.
