I remember the Nixon loss to Kennedy. I was just a boy at the time but within my family's circle of friends (career military) the discussion was doom and gloom for the Republican party. The one thing I remember my father saying is "Don't count Dick Nixon as done. He run again." The thing is that Nixon learned from the loss and came back to become president. The sad part of the Nixon story is Watergate. He was loyal to his people to a fault and should have cut his people loose early, particularly if he wasn't privy to the "third rate break in" until later.

Now, I am not comparing Rubio to Nixon, I do not think Marco has the character defects that Nixon had. BUT Marco does need to learn some hard lessons about leadership and politics. Up until this point he was becoming the poster child for the GOP establishment. He got roped into the beltway mentality that is DC and could never shake is links to the "Gang of Eight" deals. Time and distance will give him what he needs to mount a comeback.

One thing Marco needs is some time around the military. If Trump or Cruz wins, Marco should serve as one of the service secretaries and then move up to be one of the Under Secretaries of Defense. However, maybe he will just hang on in the Senate which in my opinion will be sad....branding him for life as a Beltway politician.
