The video is misleading. They survived with a sudden desire to become taxi drivers with concussions. But it survived. Next time I'm turning the volume off...I can handle only so many Allah Akbars in one minute. It's almost like listening to a Marine tell you he's a Marine.

SSG Warren Swan - Had to re-type my initial three responses before posting: You know Marines too well! LOL.

Capt Mark Strobl - Always in fun Sir. If we don't give each other hell, we'd be fighting each other.....well we do that even after giving each other hell. But don't let anyone else do it to us!!!

SrA Edward Vong - Very true, but in this case, once they realize only their bells were rung, the tank is still serviceable and operational, it'll be back in business pissing someone else off. But this is an untrained crew. American Tankers would've laughed that mess off and said paybacks a bitch. Target acquired, Target confirmed, Fire.

Thanks Capt Mark Strobl I would vote for an up to date TOW missile in tis confrontation especially from the flanks.
"Sure enough, the T-90’s Kontakt-5 reactive armor appeared to save it. Reactive armor explodes outwards and stops incoming missiles from penetrating into the tank and killing the crew."
It seems the Russian reactive armor has improved over the years.

LTC Stephen F. - Guessing the Syrians now have a permanently emplaced 125-mm smooth-bore cannon. Wouldn't this make a nice trophy in Damascus?

Capt Mark Strobl - Yes I agree a permanently emplaced 125-mm smooth-bore cannon would be a nice trophy in Damascus.

I don't think the tank is even really disabled. It's probably still fully capable of moving. But, we already HAVE an updated TOW in the form of the JAVELIN. While the TOW is a straight shot - side shot - weapon, the JAVELIN launches up into the air and then hit the tank from the top where the armor is weakest. I'd like to see how these tanks far against those.
Additionally, TOWs and other anti-tank weapons aren't typically used in one-shot configurations. Typically, you'd have three or more TOW gunners who fire in succession, which should help defeat the reactive armor.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - I concur on both counts.
The crew of the T-90’s tank survived. I expect the damage from the missile and the reactive armor was repairable; but, I expect the Russians spent more time analyzing the results than ion repairing the tank.
We don't give our top-of-the line system or munitions to potential terrorists just like the Russians don't give their top of the line systems to Middle eastern nations.
