The guy is unbelievable, lest we forget he was forced to resign from HCA by his own board after the company was convicted of Medicare Fraud and he pled the 5th roughly 70 times during the hearings. I don't think the GOP has sunk this low and see this not as a true policy statement but as Scott's trial balloon for a presidential run. As a Republican I can't believe the idiot just handed the Democrats a ton of ammunition even as they create their own problems.

Embarrassed... that this homophobic, white-collar criminal (largest Medicare fraud in US history!) and overall sorry excuse of a man... is one of my Senators. I expected nothing less.

Don't those government forms say it is optional to report your gender? I know some even have a box that says something like "Prefer not to say".

It depends on which government and which form.
I have filled out a few that have multiple options for gender (and yes, one was "prefer not to say"). I don't think I have seen any government forms ask about sexual preference, though.
Personally, I think getting rid of gender identifiers on government forms is a good idea, but not because of the reason Scott is against it. I also think getting rid of racial identifiers is a good idea. When applying to ANYTHING from the government, be it aid, grants, a job, participation in programs, or anything else, race and gender simply should not matter. And if they don't matter, why are we asking?
