One of the worst parts of growing old is that everyone seems to think that you're senile and the scam artists come knocking, telephoning, emailing, and even snail mailing. I learned this lesson taking care of my father's finances and doing his tax returns. He went to his grave cursing me because he believed that I cost him a million dollar prize. He all but had his bags packed waiting for Ed McMahon to come take him to New York to collect his prize and have a big night on he town. Well, now it's my turn. I just received a call "from the IRS" warning me that I was being sued and should call right away. Have you received such a call? What other scams have the crooks tried to pull on you? Which ones have they succeeded in getting money from you? Don't be bashful. It's not your fault and your experience can help others... We got a call from the IRS saying we were being sued for unpaid taxes . My wife answered the call and was told not to tell me anything but to make arrangements on how to pay them . The person calling even gave us a number to call back . We knew it was a scam because we've had a tax preparer doing our taxes for the last 20 years . We called the Police Dept. and their advice was to hang up on them if they called again . They did call again the next day and again my wife answered but this time she told them she was a Lieutenant with the police department and they immediately hung up . No more calls .

CPT Jack Durish-Sad to say up here in the Northeast we get many of these scam calls, everything from lottery,grandchildren in jail you have to bail them out,phony utility billings, and of course the IRS scam they even put phony caller ID on your phone so you think you are talking to a real agent.I am dying to get that one so I can use that old James Cagney line "Come and get me copper"probably lost on the younger generation though!
