When we see thousands of pit bulls dying in shelters, being banned from cities and from neighborhoods, even Paw Parks in most cities, it's hard to believe that the American Staffordshire Terrier was "America's dog". They were once called the Nanny dog for the care they showed to children in their homes. Stubby was the first War Hero dog yet his breed has been treated terribly by the country which Stubby served. It's time to give the AST the opportunity to prove what wonderful canine companions they truly are.

Thanks for highlighting the issue of pit bulls SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
The son living with us has a pit bull which was rescued from a shelter.
My youngest son also rescued a 120 pound Akita/Pit Bull Mix.
Both dogs are very loving to me and the ferocious to those who are unwelcome - such as any would be gang bangers who want to break in.
