The movie Enemy of the State came out in 1998 and it showed Will Smith being chased after for knowing too much. Traitor (not hero like the media asks) Edward Snowden is being sought after for what he leaked to the World. He is portrayed as a whistieblower but I bet many people were killled after the info got out.

Indirectly Maybe, He was not part of the Humint Community. He was part of My COMINT, SIGINT, ELINT Community. He could only expose how much Data was available and the Means of how that Data was collected making it harder for COMINT, SIGINT and ELINTers to collect that Data.
