Haha, regardless of the politics behind this, that just looked super cheesy. I wouldn't glorify him, but at the same time, I wouldn't paint him as a monster so many people have done. He wanted to do the right thing, but was an idiot and didn't know the proper channels to voice his concerns. Not saying I agree with what he did, but his actions are not on par with people like John Anthony Walker or David Sheldon Boone, etc.
