Some World War I battlefields are still uninhabitable

This is nuts until you really think about it. Rounds were mass produced and there were no guarantee's they'd work, but they're still in the ground. I know in Bosnia we had problems with the locals placing UXO's on the side of the road for someone (not me) to pick up and destroy. In DC on many occasions digging for repairs or building, has turned up WW I and II bombs, some that were known to carry gas.
