Song Of The South The History Of and Is It Banned? Walt Disney Studios

I'm not kidding. I would love to have someone rationally explain why Song of the South is banned. How is it prejudicial? As a child I had the Golden Book adaptation of the Tales of Uncle Remus and loved it. I watched the movie in a theater. I picked up the original book by Joel Chandler Harris many years ago (a few decades actually) and read it. I don't recommend it unless you're from the South. I couldn't read it in the normal way, but when I tried reading it aloud, I picked up on the pacing and sound of it and got along great. The story is full of whit and wisdom of slaves, mocking their masters orsharing the lore remembered from Africa. Uncle Remus was a noble character, a helluva lot smarter than those who enslaved him. I have the same problem with people attempting to ban Huckleberry Finn. Twain wrote of the runaway slave Jim in sympathetic tones and Huck helps him escape. Along the way, Huck frequently remarks on the humanity of Jim. How does this hurt blacks? Ultimately, prejudice/bigotry is founded in ignorance. Strange, but to me banning films and books that treat these subjects honestly is ignorant. I could be wrong...
