South African ad watchdog bans colonisation spoof

Good luck making advertisements that don't insult anyone...if nothing else they usually insult our intelligence.

It may be offensive, but I did get a chuckle.

I don't know how it's offensive to African's (because that is who the ad is targeted towards) or even African Americans. It should be more offensive to Caucasians. It shows that Big John was a strong and brave traveler. It shows he is in control of himself, and has a great attitude.

On the flip side, when he lands in Europe, he is greeted by Europeans who are confused, stand-offish, rude to a lesser degree, and for the most part, simply ignorant and acting it. This is the impression I get.

So, I honestly believe that this is essentially a commercial the the "watchdog" group would have just left alone.

Remember "Archie Bunker"? I thought it was the most racist shows against the black community. I watched it a few weeks ago, and realized something that I had never realized.

This show played his wife, Edith out to be a scared wife who was submissive in every way, even to the point of being scared to even correct him when he was wrong. Archie was, of course, a stanch bigoted racist.

In almost every episode, it painted the average white Americans to be judgmental, ignorant, stupid at times, and especially angry at anyone who is different in any way. Any other race or nationality was represented calm and well spoken, except when the Jefferson's lived close and Wheezy and George would visit. He was always the instigator, and always cutting other races and nationalities down.

However, I do not have any problems with none of the shows that did this. It was a representation of the class of people who were bigoted, angry, and ignorant or just plain stupid. I happen to agree that these things should be left in circulation, because that comedy actually helps us to see exactly what we look like when we decide that we are better than others.

This may be a controversial statement, and I pray no one takes it out of context, but it was meant to say that I find more humor in those types of shows and believe that this commercial actually makes Big John look better than the Europeans, LOL.

I'm not racist, in fact, I am a minister who is working to heal the great divide that still exists between the white and black Americans today. It is there, racism is still out there, and I believe that, as a Christian, and especially as a minister, it is my responsibility to help to destroy the racism that is still prevalent to this day. I could always use help in this effort, so if anyone is willing to join in on this, please message me. Just a small group of people can change the world. Imagine what we could do with just this Nation!
