Can you imagine all the good that could be done for mankind if that money was directed to humanitarian efforts?

I can imagine and agree and monies are allocated for humanitarian use around the world, but that said, there is also a need to develop the future for our offspring... as it means progress, good jobs and at some point migration to expand the habitat for human life beyond Earth... There must be a balance between humanitarian needs and expanding habitats for human life... We are rapidly reaching a point where we, as a planet Earth society, will not have enough food to feed the population... Just another viewpoint, Gene... Neither of us will be here to see the results of whatever directions are taken by world governments, however, socialism is one thing that will negatively affect the lives of all humans...

Sgt (Join to see) - I, for one, do not that think that moving to other planets or into space is Biblically supported. Christ will return before any of that happens! To date all prophecies that have been foretold in the Bible have come true, for up to our present time. Nothing that I have seen in the Bible is prophesized about living on other planets.

Sgt (Join to see) & PO1 H Gene Lawrence – You two are two of my favorite brothers on RP. So, I hope that you both can agree with the way that I view your comments. We may never ever move to other planets or even just into near space (at least not in our lifetimes) and although many of the occurrences that we have noted can be the fulfillment of all of the prophecies found in the Scriptures up to now, do any of us know when our Savior will return. Revelations 1:3 states "the end is near". In God's time, "near" has no meaning that we can fully understand and so, we are reminded that we must live as if today is the last day of our lives, no? Likewise, while many would agree that we should invest in humanitarian efforts as opposed to research in projects involving Space, very few of us are able to imagine returning to a time when the technological advances we now enjoy didn't exist. I personally have no desire to live in Space or on any planet besides this one that we all call Earth.
