Here's the thing...I entirely understand the present day fascination with their efforts, however, by contrast with the nuclear thermal rocket depicted in that video. Which was done in the early 1960s, the human race has, I'm afraid, by and large utterly stagnated in spaceflight. I'm not I morale seed with chemical rockets, even ones thst land vertically. Now, if that group were to build a full size nuclear thermal rocket spepacecraft for lunar flight, and totally colonize the Moon as should have been done, and could have been done decades ago, then yeah, maybe then I'd be impressed. Flight control systems for chemical rocket engines are, in present day, utterly archaic, what youre seeing in thst video generated 1 GW of thrust half a century ago, there isn't going to ne any warp drive, no fusion engines, no ion propulsion, no EMmthrusters...however, that engine, and several other versions of nuclear thermal rocket worked, and worked well. That the project was stopped simply because no one wanted one flying in the atmosphere doesn't !EAM such a spacecraft couldn't be assembled in orbit...it could ne done, and should have been done, decades ago, and if that group, and its backers, had any real foresight, they'd use ,20/20 hindsight, and finish that project, instead of just building chemical rockets to launch satellites, or flights to that ridiculously primitive space station, which also, I'm afraid, regardless of its popularity, also singularly unimpresses !e. arthus C Clarke would be positively appalled by the evident lack of human progress, as would zgerard K O:Neill, with his twaddle about Lagrange point colonies. Till that engine, in that video, is finished, and till a REAL set of space stations, is in orbit, till the Moon is mimed, and colonized such that flights there and back are as routine as getting in a jetliner, there'll ne no colonization of Mars, no terraforming, all of that is purest fantasy, I'm afraid, regardless of whatever pipedreams NASA thinks up or however many Matt Damon sci fi flicks are produced about nonsensical human Mars flights, I'm sorry to be nausaying, however. I was very heavily involved in comparable hardware and software development before my disability, and think, for those reasons, that I babe some vestige of a clue as to what would REALLY ne involved, and what would REALY impress me, honest I'm not meaning to ne a wet blanket, however, everyone is seemingly fascinated by some billionaire's toy venture into spaceflight, when the real thing could've new dome decades ago, as that video quite clearly shows, I know I'll ne disagreed with, however those are my honest thoughts, such as they are, I'd ne most eager for any discussion, many thanks.
