Mudcat Grant was famous for using the line, "Give him a little chin music!" I used to watch him and the Indians all the time. Chin music is his term for a close inside pitch to move the batter back. It was not a new term, but it was funny how old Mudcat said it!

SGT (Join to see) yeah if you do it now someone charges the mound. In the day- you were "brushed" back a bit next time up. The omission I saw was the Rocket- Roger Clemens and maybe I read to fast both times through it...

"The Heater from Van Meter", "Bullet Bob", and "Rapid Robert" all referred to Bob Feller. I met Bob Feller and he told me he hated the name Rapid Robert. He said his wife hated the term. I can only guess why. Lol

My family went to an exhibition game between the Dodgers and the Giants in 1963. I got to see Drysdale, Koufax, Mays, McCovey, and many more, up close. I was 11 years old, and it made a lasting impression to see two of MLBs best teams with some their strongest lineups.

Thanks for sharing Maj Marty Hogan the "best" nicknames in baseball history. Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra, Catfish Hunter, etc.
