Interesting article and looking at both sides of the issue. In the end - there is a Syrian force we could be training up and arming..... just not the ones in the cut program though. Near term solution to long term problems are not effective if they are not part of the whole picture. All wars end, and there needs to be a force able to move in and restart and stabilize the area.... a Syrian force. Need to have a nucleus of action force.... and one capable of info operations and civil defense and civil engineering......

How is anyone in Syria going to forgive the US arming the Sunni rebels? How many millions displaced? How many murdered? What are American interests in Syria? Iraq? Libya?

What exactly ends up being the significance of our interests? For long while we played this shell game that called operational actions our strategic plan... and kept separated Iraq and Syria.... instead of seeing the dysfunctional of that planning and how much resources were wasted as Iran countered each action and we ignored them. So we need an end plan for Syria - and then we can branch from the strategic plan from that... to beating both IS and AQ in Syria and Iraq, and stemming the Iranian tide.... all of which is more than wee have looked at at the same time...
