Roger with an average depth of 4,190 meters, the Pacific Ocean was harder to walk (or wade as you imply) through. I've seen more then my share of blue, green, brown water; its funny that DuffleBlog, which is a satire website, would write the satire about my old Cutter, VENTUROUS, a 210' long by approximately 38' wide and (at the time) a crew of 75-80 people. The water was anything but shallow 600+ miles WSW of San Diego when at 2300 we made our way to conduct an armed LE Boarding of a 49' sailboat, loaded to the gills with bulk marijuana.

We did have US Navy support on that particular patrol; they sent us a P-3 Orion to aid in the search. One morning over the secure comms device they reported as being on station, beginning their search. Now with their sophisticated gear Target ID should be fairly simple. After a fashion the P3 called to report they had a "target" approximately 150 miles away and they would follow the bearing to ID the target. About 45 minutes later they overflew us! Not missing a chance - our CO said "wow, you found us; now please go find the briefed target! The target was eventually spotted by one of our lookouts, reported as a faint white light.
