This is politics made worse by sheer polarization done by both sides. Didn’t start with Trump and won’t end with him. But the Dems really didn’t care much either. I get the first one. I understand why (I don’t agree with it) the choice to hold it till the end. In that time period, the Dems couldn’t be bothered searching for others? Confirming others stories? They put all the eggs in one basket and some got cracked. In recent history there hasn’t been one justice removed for cause. Kav won’t be the first. If the shoe was on the other foot...I have no doubt that Pelosi and Schumer would do the same. The caveat being neither Bush nor Obama would mock a victim or claimed victim of sexual abuse/assault.

I fear for the man. Create a slight bit of doubt and you can do worlds of damage in public opinion. And of course too many on the committee are running for President so they have to get publicity. Flake is indeed a "flake" and I would not vote for him.

Why fear for him? This is politics at it's best (or worse) depending on one's political slant. Republicans have done this to Dems, and right now, the Dems are doing it to them. All's "fair" in love and politics isn't it? He's not going to court, not going to be indicted at all, and won't go to prison for whatever the Dems are going to try and press him on. Not to mention in this case, the "fix" is in. They're already calling for a vote this week....the second the FBI say's they cannot prove one way or the other the accusations are true or not. Dude's going to make it. Now had the shoe been on the other foot, would you "fear" for the Democratic nominee for SCOTUS? I damn sure wouldn't. Being a Justice in SCOTUS isn't about bringing in "justice". It's about leaving a person up thee who will protect your legacy as President, hence it's pure gold when a seat opens up and the President at the time can appoint someone up there. I also don't see folks up in arms when Garland was blocked by McConnell when Obama had the chance to nominate a Justice. McConnell said the next President should have the right to appoint the next Justice. He made that happen, except Obama was the President at the time, and HE was right in being allowed to submit and have the Senate to vote on his pick. Trump NOW has that right. Can't say one is wrong or the others right when it's purely a political game.
