Oh trust me, I know! If you've ever seen the PBS documentary "Carrier," that's one of my experiences.
I was stationed on the USS Nimitz when it was filmed, and so saw the hippies, I mean PBS film crew, a lot.
One night we were doing the Wog Talent Show, and the film crew entered it. Their resident guitarist wrote a song called "Nimitz You're Not a Lady, You're a Bitch." He got booed off the stage and more than a few people (myself included) seriously thought about causing him bodily harm. He didn't understand that the crew can talk all the smack they want about their ship, but if an outsider dirty civilian does, that's cause for an ass whipping.

PO1 John Miller - Heh. He's lucky he didn't get a blanket party. I wouldn't even go onto ANOTHER ship as a Sailor and talk shit about it -- only my own, like you said.
