After the initial attacks dazed and confused most units, our men responded heroically. Every time my grandfather met another veteran of that battle, he would stand a little straighter and his walk became a march. They never talk of it, but you knew they knew what each had undergone.

I've scoured the unit history looking for his being named as I heard from fellow Blue Spaders that he should have been put on for a Silver Star for actions in the Hurtgen Forest, but I can't find any information on him or that action.

Does any one know where I can find the daily and after action reports for the 26th regiment?

Best place is NARA in College Park, Md. That's where I got all the S3 records for the three black tank bns. in the ETO/MTO.
