The BBC (1 and 2) are examples of government controlled broadcasting. They are funded by the British government you should listen only with great caution and a skeptical ear. ITN and other sources are much better and reporting stories. When I lived there I had to stop watching the BBC news as it was so bad as not to be believed most of the time.
