I've presented this video before, but I wanted to do it again in recognition of number 6. He gave all so others wouldn't be hurt. It has to be one of the worst feelings knowing there won't be a tomorrow for you, but if you hang in there, there will be a tomorrow for others. He is a model for all of us regardless of branch, MOS, or time in service. Thank you Sir for saving lives even though you knew it would take yours.

Yep. He stayed with it in order to avoid a neighborhood and a school, just like those f18 pilots in Virginia did (who had a better outcome). Your words, '...knowing there won't be a tomorrow for you, but if you hang in there, there will be a tomorrow for others...' are SPOT ON. As usual.

SN Greg Wright that was the initial speculation. I am glad that this tragedy at least shows the bravery and dedication of the pilot. If he could have ejected, but chose to stay with his plane to save American lives, that is a heroic act.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I REALLY despise the name of hero, but in his case, and many more like it, these men and women stared death in the face, smiled, and said fuck you. I'm not rejoicing in a man's death, but in the spirit that even going into death, his last mission was to save lives. No leadership manual teaches that.

SSG Warren Swan - It is like so many words. It gets thrown around so much it loses meaning. Hero is definitely one of those words. It gets applied to so many things that it loses meaning. Case in point Bruce Jenner becoming whatever he/she calls itself now, did not make that person a hero. Yet many in the media wanted to call that heroic. So I can agree that it does make using the term lose its luster. As you so eloquently put it, "in his case, and many more like it, these men and women stared death in the face, smiled, and said fuck you." that combined with guiding his crippled aircraft away from populated areas makes me say he earned the title as it should be applied. Had that plane gone into a school, or plowed through a residential neighborhood, it could have been so much more tragic. Again as you said, not rejoicing in the man's death, honoring his last action.

He is the definition of a Hero, I'm sure he just figured he was just doing the right thing with a big check to be cashed after....
