Good morning my RP Family. When my wife left me I lost most of my self-worth and became very depressed and gained a tremendous amount of weight. It took quite awhile to come back from the deep depression I was in. Turning everything over to God and trying to listen to what He was saying to me thru the scriptures helped me to regain my sense of self-worth. Of course finding and marrying my current wife, who totally supports me was of tremendous value. I am forever grateful to God for bringing her into my life and also for leading me to Rally Point.
I have found a short piece from beforethecross.com that is so uplifting to me. I hope that you enjoy it. Have a blessed day as you explore your self-worth.

Scripture on Self Worth
by Mike Mobley

There are times in our lives when we will feel beat down, discouraged, and even filled with doubt on how God sees us and that we aren’t even worthy. Satan likes to attack us making us think that we have no self worth and that God does not value us. There are other times we as Christians need reminders of how God sees all of us with tremendous value as we are sharing the Gospel and loving and serving those who at times are difficult to love and serve.

Whether you need encouragement today that God sees tremendous value in yourself or that you need the reminder of how He sees all of us, here is what the Bible has to say with Scripture on Self Worth:

Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

Matthew 10:29-31 – Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Isaiah 43:4 – Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.

God sees tremendous value in His children because when He looks at them, He sees Jesus.

Psalm 100:3 – Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 139:13-14 – For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Isaiah 49:15-16 – Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

Ephesians 1:5-6 – He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

This message is for all those who ever receive/received a "Dear John". You'll feel down. Your self worth will dip towards zero. You'll spend some time being angry. But never ever go back looking for to redeem yourself in that persons eyes. I didn't walk away and married the worst bride ever. The only benefit of the marriage was that she taught me to truly appreciate my second wife

Back in the 70's mine cost me $200 in Washington State and I kept custody of my 2 children while still on active duty. Fortunately the wife of a fellow Airman stepped up and was a baby sitter for them until I met my soul mate who helped me raise mine and gave me 2 more. 46 years of happy bliss said I did the right thing in letting my 1st wife who didn't want the kids go. Its funny because she married a Navy man and had 2 more children of her own. So life goes on.

I pray that you and I are becoming more compassionate and gracious as we mature in Christ, my friend and brother-in-Christ Maj Marty Hogan.
LORD YOU consider human life to be so valuable that you established capital punishment for the deliberate taking of a human life.
I pray dear God that each and every one of YOUR adopted children values each and every human life and that we will stand up and be counted when life is in the balance.
I pray for wisdom and discernment for the members of criminal juries and the judges over them. I pray that justice will be increasingly impartial in regards to race, gender and social position.
LORD YOU ordain the means, time and location of each human birth and YOU ordain the means, time and location of each human death in YOUR perfect timing.
I lift up those suffering in hospice and elsewhere at the end of life and pray that YOU will allow many to die peacefully in their sleep surrounded by friends and family who love them.
I pray for the family members in states where physician-assisted-suicide is legal. Give them wisdom, discernment and compassion for elderly relatives. Empower them to stand for life with dignity and against the wanton taking of human lives.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
