Good morning Mikel. Great quotes for the day. Slow and steady is the way to go and it gives the opportunity to recognize and reward small successes as well as major ones!

Everything can be a success if you go slow and steady each day - why be in a hurry - you'll miss something improtant or beautiful SCPO Morris Ramsey...

“This is a great time of the year to start slowing down and taking it steady as she goes with the holiday season coming up and all the things that are going on the United States and around the world with this crazy virus COVID-19. An individual or leader’s character is built over a steady and long-continued process of actions; may you be steady in your process toward your individual goals as we head in 2021; may you have a steady and positive attitude toward life and all those you come in contact with; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

In some races speed is necessary, and in those races the competitor is rarely aware of the "view". His/Her focus is the finish line. Think about sprinters, or drag races or even NASCAR. The competitor sees what is directly in front of them or to the immediate left or right.
As for the race called "Life", it's about the journey, who, what, and where we can have a positive impact. Slow down and smell the roses is a great quote. Most times, going slow and steady allows us to take advantage of opportunities that come our way, and sometimes those opportunities are helping others in their journey.

CPO David R. D. - I agree speed is sometimes necessary, tracking; but in order to execute with speed and decisiveness on game day requires a foundation of training -- Battle Drill6 (house clearing) is all about speed and violence of action, but the training necessary to execute can only come from the training journey - crawl, walk, run --

CSM Chuck Stafford - Definitely, never known anyone go into a race or battle
against a formidable foe, and come out victorious without spending days, months, or even years practicing, training, honing their skills. You're comment made me think, of the 24 years I spent on Active Duty, how much of it was training, and how much of it was putting that training to use? We use to joke around about being CT's. When the ship is in port, CT stands for "Cleaning Technicians". Once the "anchor's aweigh", we revert back to Cryptologic Technicians and hide away behind that big black door. :)

COL Mikel Burroughs good read/share: for the Colonel's Motivational Quotes of the Day. Where the mighty American Bald Eagles roam in the mighty MOUNTAINS OF CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO AMONG THIER EAGLES-NEST. I know the view must be MAGNIFICIENT on this day December 3, 2020 as you might glance upon the mighty snowcapped mountains headed into the month of January 2020. As you know I would respond a lot throughout the week, but I am full-time DOD employee doing contracts for the Defense Contracting Management Agency. It is good to have sometime on my break to respond my friend.

Today's theme is “Slow & Steady Day!” I quote, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop.” — Confucius
