OK, we already have a problem agreeing on the facts of the word as some are using the internet to pass around false information and propaganda. Exactly how bad is it going to get when deep fakes become indistinguishable from real people saying real things on video? This is just one way in which technology is moving at a pace where open societies may not be ready to deal with the fallout.

With deepfakes one is able to have HRC, Trump, Wendy down the street, on video saying whatever you so desire. Another option is to use the newer semi-AI driven face generators which I am sure will get to full motion video shortly.
Since blockchain is not yet accepted and can still be hacked, that is only a partial solution. I am hoping that the blockchain scene goes deeper into security aspects here quickly!

SSgt (Join to see) Exactly so. Blockchain can and has been hacked. Cryptocurrency is currently the target of choice but as you say, there is no reason to think that when the political stakes are high enough blockchain used to verify video won't be a target too.
