The United States and Norway are considering basing a rotational force of up to 300 Marines in the Nordic country, but the measure still requires the approval of the Norwegian parliament, local media reports say.
The move would place Marines, who have a long-standing training partnership with their Norwegian counterparts, at a military compound about 700 miles from the Russian-Norwegian border, the newspaper Adresseavisen reported.

Oh what a beautiful, fun country! My roommate in Germany was Norwegian by birth, his mom married an American when he was a kid. We went and stayed with his mom for 2 weeks just south of Trondheim after getting back from Kuwait in 1991. She told us to bring some dress clothes for church on Christmas. We're grunts! Only dress clothes we had were our Class A's. You could hear all the necks popping as everyone turned around to stare at us walking into that church with our Class A's on! I had the time of my life. Non-stop party and they actually like Americans!

SGT David Bry, I would have loved to have been deployed to a Norwegian country. Instead,I was deployed to the complete 360, I Vietnam.
