Don't do it! We gave up Be All That You Can Be and still can find anything that just doesn't suck. The Few, The Proud, The Marines is timeless. You'll be sorry.

You're 100% right. I still field "Army of one!" jokes in a joint environment. What a bunch of boneheads to mess that up.

The worst!

'Army. It's still better than jail.' That has a better ring to it.
I have seen the other services change their recruiting slogans so many times while the Marine Corps has always stayed the same for over four decades. Sometimes it is best to just stay with what works though. That said, every major brand name, both commercial and military, always seem to think they need to re-brand, re-market or changes things to keep up with the times. I do think, in this case, that they should not do away with the current slogan but maybe just try out some new ones along with the current one before they just go and make a change for the sake of changing it.

"Bon Ami", the cleaning powder, had an ad that said "because we got it right the first time", pointing out they hadn't changed their label in almost a hundred years.
I've known a lot of Marines, and the traditions of the Corps are one of the things that give it continuity and strength. Don't change the slogan!
