There are other varieties of Arowana that can be purchased at a reasonable price. Best have a large tank for them to grow in though.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I had 2 in a 100 gallon tank They were about 4" long when I got them They were about 2' long when I sold the tank due to over seas orders. They develop a personality much like Oscars and will eat out of your hand.

That's a nice fish but not that nice. I like having salt water fish tanks and when I was in the position I had nice fish in there ( i.e. Clown fish, Dorie fish, different types of sharks ). I would never pay that much for a fish, especially and endangered one. I guess some people just don't care and when they want something they want it.

Have seen these in Chinese restaurants , in large aquariums, kids love watching them swim around.
