So all the National Guard “Soldiers” in Louisiana as well as other states shouldn’t be helping all those “people” affected by hurricane Ida should just pack it up and go home?

MSG (Join to see) he probably thinks we should have killed the hurricane? Maybe? I dunno, I’m not fluent in nonsense
Hopefully he is the last U.S. service member to ever die in Afghanistan. But something tells me he may well be the last... until the next military action in that location. I won't even call it a country, it has never been a real united country, only a collection of various tribes and city-states.
That region of the globe is just to valuable to have left. It has direct access to China's backdoor, Russia's underbelly, Iran's eastern border, and Pakistan's western border, not to mention the terrorists that consider it a place to conduct training. I consider it one of the most strategic locations in the current geo-political world. There would be no real need to control most of the Afghan region, only certain air corridors and perhaps a couple of land corridors. Like Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, the United States should have made the government we installed 18 years ago in Kabul sign a 200 year agreement to allow the United States to operate three air bases in the area, Kandahar, Bagram, and Shindand Air Bases with land corridors through Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
May God bless him and his family.

SFC (Verify To See) - I wonder if the American people want an enduring presence in Europe (Italy, Germany, Great Britain), Asia (Japan, South Korea, Philippines), Africa (Ghana, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Gabon) , South (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) and Central (Honduras, Cuba, Bahamas) America just to mention a few.

1SG James R. if they don’t..we kinda have to listen. We are the servants. We serve the people of the nation.
To be honest I’d like it if we were out of a lot of those places too. I’m no isolationist but a little cost benefit analysis would probably turn up some negative returns on investment

SFC (Verify To See) - I agree. I personally would have preferred the United States reduced our presence in many other locations to remain in the area of Afghanistan due to its proximity of so many of our potential current and future foes. Let the city-states of Afghanistan do their own thing and suffer their own choices or enjoy their successes.

1SG James R. I understand. I think your ideas come from a sound foundation and good intent. But I think the majority of the people in both countries want us out of there and it was well past time to respect those wishes
