I believe the only one left in New England is just outside of Plymouth, Mass just off the highway south. The headquarters when I was growing up was in the same town Wollaston, where I grew up. They also has a candy plant near there where they mainly produced candy bars and other confectioneries. At Halloween many of the older kids would go to the plant where they would give out candy.

I remember we had them here in Michigan. Mom worked at one on I-94 on the service drive(eastbound) by Belleville, Mi. Dad would take us there for a hot. Dog n fries or a sundae type dessert.. when she was working.. There was a rule she could not take our order but could deliver it to the table.

Damn, wow, end of an era. I loved the Howard Johnson's in North Hollywood, CA back when I was a little kid in the 1980s.

I was stationed at Travis AFB by Fairfield, Ca. (Sept ‘74-‘76) There was one on the northbound service drive I liked going.there occasionally.. grilled tuna n chess on wheat and tomato soup (there were some chilly day’s occasionally!
