Interesting Cold War data on retrofitting the A-10 warthog and other platforms for nuclear bomb delivery against the Soviet Union. This Plane definitely would survive better today than the F-35 in daylight close air support carrying a nuke during a Fulda Gap scenario if we had to deal with Defending NATO's newest and former Warsaw pact members.

Could send in a nuke on a drone anywhere you want. No need to save fuel for a return trip.
Just send the thing in under the radar and pop up to desired drop height at the last moment.
The delivery vehicle will be completely untraceable. Could launch from damn near anywhere within one way flight distance of the objective. Operator would control detonation so even if the plane was acquired as a target and intercepted it could either be detonated or at the very least make a nasty dirty bomb.
World is a dangerous place these days and not getting any safer.
The worst part is that the technology to create this type of delivery vehicle isn't in the least bit profound so anyterrorist with their hands on a nuke could pull this off almost anywhere in the world.

LTC (Join to see) What do You call completely Depleted Uranium? Lead! the A-10 has been a Nuclear Weapons platform for most of it's Career. Okay It wasn't using a Enriched Nuclear Bomb but if you want to get down to it it was always a Nuclear Weapons Platform. A Little Knowledge of Chemistry is a Dangerous Thing!
