SGT -Keith Bodine, sorry my friend but I have nothing but bad memories of this weapon, the piece of crap I was issued in 1966 RVN did nothing but jam,and in a few instances left me with nothing to return fire with,I remedied this situation by holding on to the .45 I was issued as a grenadier.I do know a lot of bugs were gotten out of the M16 later on in the war,but my memories of this jamming piece of crap still have me suspect of this weapon system.

SGT Philip Roncari, Don't be sorry about that. Did you ever get ready to fire it and you got one round off because the magazine had fallen out? It was a great weapon until it got dirty. Nothing scared me so much as that thing jamming. I kept mine as spotless as I could. It was a pain in the ass.

The Problems at the start were because of the Cheap ammo and shortcuts in production that the Political elites wanted, just to save on costs... once they went back to the Original designs added a forward assist and chrome Barrel it worked Like a champ... and is still one of the best lightweight medium range battle rifles in the world....

Would have loved to have gotten hold of an original AR-15 when they came out. I was able get an M-16 sighted in, in no time for weapons qualification.
