Well since I do not have a WaPo subscription and am not about to get one I guess I will not be reading about how the Skipper of the USS Little Rock got Ice Bound. But it is no big loss The Littoral Combat Ship is far from being a Warship, other than being labeled as such on paper. She has little armor and even less offensive weaponry. What started out as a Dynamic program with a target of 52 ships then being cut to 40 and now the estimate being a probable 28 and that number is flexible since the GAO affixed the adjective "troubled" to the LCS program. The Littlerock may have cost $440 Million but the estimated cost of the next few LCS to be launched are estimated to be at or above $568 million apiece. That is a bit pricey for a program that did not measure up to what the Admirals and designers hoped it would be. Admirals and Designers I will add hat probably never served aboard a real Combat ship a day in their lived and have no ides what proper armor belting is for and large caliber guns or Missiles are needed for. I know the Skipper had to be certified to be considered for Command at Sea but where were their Aerographers Mates?? To tell them the weather was starting to freeze and their passage was about to be cut off? Their navigator and XO need a good talking to. They screwed the pooch!

PO1 Andrew Gardiner - I am in contact with someone I know who is stationed aboard her, They have had to bring in additional electric heaters to be positioned in strategic places around the ship to supplement the Ships inadequate climate control system. That was in addition to shipping in Cold Weather Gear for the entire crew of 70 some odd officers and crew that they were not initially equipped with. Their day to day activities include keeping warm and going through training. There should be no one aboard by the time they break free of the ICE, that has not qualified for their ESWS. Oh Andrew, tell me where I am wrong.... and how are things aboard the USS Gabby? I know, I know, the Name does not make the Ship, the Crew does and I have no doubt Y'all make Her a proud Ship even though it's named for a liberal wuss.
