This story inspires two completely different responses. (1) Isn't it a little late to worry about asbestos when you're dealing with a grenade? (2) How well can something perform two different purposes? I once had a Kawasaki Enduro motorcycle. It was a terrible road bike and a terrible dirt bike though it was designed to do both.

Did the XM1060 never get deployed? (Yes, I know. For you civilians reading this, the XM1060 is a 40mm thermobaric grenade. Lots of fun in buildings and caves. Not as much fun as watching the effects of hydrostatic shock after a .50 round hits a target at long range, but still fun for all the boys and girls.)
It's too bad the services never picked up the AA-12 shotgun.

Thermobark? I likes that! They land on somebody and bitches and whines until they give up!

Oh. Thermobaric. Um, yeah. Sorry about that.

TSgt Joe C. Sounds like a good idea, my only concern would be remembering to flip the switch in the heat of battle to get the desired effect.
